Restoring trust in democracy by reducing the influence of money in politics.

Why Campaign Finance Reform Matters

A government of, by, and for the people cannot function when campaign donations hold more sway than votes. The current system incentivizes elected officials to prioritize the wealthy and corporate interests over constituents not through bribery, but through dependency.

To preserve national unity, public faith, and democratic integrity, we must sever the financial dependence between candidates and private capital. Free, fair, and transparent elections are a national security issue and a constitutional obligation.

Current Challenges

Guiding Principles

Policy Proposals

Public Financing of Elections

  • Establish public campaign matching systems for small-dollar donations
  • Offer voucher programs (e.g. “Democracy Dollars”) to empower all citizens
  • Set public grant options for candidates who reject private funding thresholds
  • Ensure full federal funding for presidential and key federal campaigns

Contribution Limits & Donor Caps

  • Reinstate strict contribution caps for individuals and PACs
  • Prohibit corporate contributions to candidates directly or through PACs
  • Limit total annual political donations per individual donor
  • Cap contributions from party committees to candidates in primaries

Ban Dark Money & Enhance Disclosure

  • Mandate real-time donor disclosure for all political organizations
  • Require transparent reporting of donor sources, amounts, and spending
  • Close loopholes in 501(c)(4) “social welfare” political spending
  • Ban foreign influence and shell company donations at all levels

Strengthen the Federal Election Commission (FEC)

  • Restructure FEC for functionality: odd number of commissioners, clear quorum rules
  • Empower the FEC with investigative and enforcement authority
  • Require commissioners to be independent and vetted for nonpartisan ethics
  • Set deadlines for action on complaints and violations

Lobbying & Post-Government Employment Reform

  • Require full disclosure of lobbying activity, clients, and expenditures
  • Extend the “cooling-off” period before former officials can lobby Congress or federal agencies
  • Prohibit bundling of campaign contributions by registered lobbyists
  • Create a public-access lobbying database with AI-powered trend analysis

Implementation Strategy

  • Pass federal legislation such as the For the People Act (H.R.1) and DISCLOSE Act

  • Encourage state-level pilot programs for public financing and disclosure reform

  • Pressure candidates to voluntarily adopt spending caps and disclosure pledges

  • Use ballot initiatives to enact campaign finance limits in states with direct democracy

  • Launch civic education campaigns explaining money’s impact on democratic function

How You Can Help

For Citizens:

  • Refuse to support candidates who accept untraceable dark money

  • Support small-donor funded campaigns at the local and state level

  • Use campaign finance tracking tools to follow the money

  • Demand disclosure and reform from your representatives

For Civic Organizations:

  • Advocate for public financing systems in your city or state

  • Build coalitions to pass transparency and ethics laws

  • Monitor and report on campaign finance violations

For Lawmakers & Candidates:

  • Lead by example by refusing PAC and lobbyist money

  • Sponsor or co-sponsor reform legislation

  • Build cross-partisan consensus for transparency and fairness

When political power is bought, the nation is sold. To reclaim democracy, we must break the grip of big money and return public office to public service, where it belongs.
