Building a foundation of wisdom, empathy, and civic responsibility in every American child.
- The New America Project
K–12 education is the moral and intellectual cornerstone of society. It shapes how young people see themselves, each other, and the world. Yet across the United States, students face inequality, outdated curricula, over-testing, and underfunded schools, leaving many unprepared for citizenship, leadership, or lifelong learning.
To create an America that can endure for centuries, we must reform K–12 education to promote critical thinking, civic literacy, emotional intelligence, and cultural competence while ensuring every child has equal access to opportunity.
Every child deserves access to excellent, relevant education regardless of background.
Understanding democracy, ethics, and community should be foundational.
Teach the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Foster exploration, experimentation, and intellectual freedom.
Curricula must reflect the diversity and complexity of American life.
